Citizen First LCR

Unlocking our hidden entrepreneurs

The recruitment campaign

Recruiting without asking for a single CV

Citizen First LCR is a fully salaried 12-month programme that supports hidden entrepreneurs in the Liverpool City Region to build innovative businesses that help tackle health and care challenges facing local communities, supported in some way by technology.

40 local organisations from across the Liverpool City Region joined forces to find inspiring local hidden entrepreneurs for the programme.

We were delighted by the response from local people. Hundreds attended the information events we ran in every LCR local authority and in the end we were over 20 times oversubscribed for the programme, with 214 applications.

More important than the numbers was the diversity of the applicants and the quality of the business ideas they put forward. They proved something we all know. Liverpool City Region communities are full of hidden entrepreneurs with the innovative ideas and passion to drive change that come from lived experience.

Yet without the financial security and right opportunity many are held back from becoming the social entrepreneurs we all need. Through Citizen First LCR we're on a mission to change that.

Hidden entrepreneurs have now been selected and are working on their inspiring business ideas with comprehensive training and support from leading experts in business, innovation and technology, from Public Life, the University of Liverpool, and partners from the Liverpool City Region.

We are excited to share more about the entrepreneurs and their business ideas in September - stay tuned!
