It has been a busy period for Citizen First LCR as we've delivered our CV-less recruitment process across the Liverpool City Region.
40 organisations from across the region joined forces to find hidden entrepreneurs for this year-long programme to support local people to build innovative businesses that tackle local health and care challenges, supported in some way by technology.
We had a powerful offer - a year's Real Living Wage Salary and industry leading support. But this was the first time Public Life's Citizen Incubator model had been brought to Liverpool so we didn't know what the response would be.
In the end we were over 20 times oversubscribed, with 214 applications. More important than the numbers was the diversity of the applicants and the quality of the business ideas they put forward. Thank you so much to all the brilliant people who applied!
Together we had been able to reach deep within communities with 90% of applicants reporting experience of economic disadvantage. And their ideas were outstanding- we were blown away by the quality and variety of the businesses and the types of innovations that could only have come from people's lived experience.
Hidden entrepreneurs have now been selected and are working on their inspiring business ideas with comprehensive training and support from leading experts in business, innovation and technology from Public Life, Civic Health Innovation Labs (CHIL), VEC, and many others from LCR.
We are excited to share more about the entrepreneurs and their business ideas in September - stay tuned!
